Nowadays there is a much greater understanding and awareness of mental health. Because of this, more and more people are becoming better equipped at being able to care for their own mental wellbeing and look after themselves. Self-care is a term that we see bandied about online a lot but understanding it and practising it is something that can greatly improve mental wellbeing.

Practising self-care is down to the likes and dislikes for each individual, but here are some things you can try…

Practising Meditation – This is a great way to quieten the brain and promote calm. However, it does take practice, so spending time each day alone, even for just ten minutes can really help to boost your mood long term and give you a more calm and grounded life.

Creative Pursuits – Being creative is a great way to take care of your mental health. From making music, to drawing to poetry to crafts – there are so many ways to be creative, and it is a great outlet for stress and a way to relax the brain.

Watching what you eat – Some foods and drinks are better than others and taking care of your body and watching what you eat will have a positive impact on your mind.
